I am not a dessert person. It seems like most people are - or aren't, and I am not. But, that only pertains to eating them. I absolutely love making desserts - for other people. I use berries and fruit a lot. We're getting into berry season here in Minnesota, and I thought this recipe would be a good one to share. The dough is very easy to handle. You don't have to be an expert pie maker to make this beautiful. You can substitute any berry or fruit such as apricots, peaches, or pears, or try a combination such as half strawberries and blueberries. I love the rustic look of a galette. Pairing this with some vanilla gelato? Perfect!
The aroma of baking fruit in the oven just smells like Summer to me! I find that either cooling the galette significantly, or completely and reheating it works best. The fruit will have a lot of juice which will thicken as the galette cools. I hope you have a galette in your future!
